The surprising benefits of running in the mornings before my workday starts

Yes, those are my feet and legs! In case you’re wondering…

Thanks to my Dyspraxia, I have zero fine motor skills and have a dreadful sense of space, time, and direction. So, I’m useless at most team sports because I still can’t catch or throw a ball. But I love to watch a good baseball, soccer, or rugby game.

Then, there’s that time in the Ottawa Valley when one of my brother’s military colleagues taught me how to fire a machine gun:

I hit none of the cardboard targets because my Dyspraxia made it challenging for me to focus my eyes on the scope. Patiently, the soldier tried to teach me, but no matter how hard he tried I just…couldn’t figure it out. But I had loads of fun.

Fortunately, I discovered long-distance running early on in my life.

My love of running started when I was in elementary school. Because that’s when I realized that I had better endurance than most of my peers.

Then, by the fourth grade, I joined the cross country team, because I was loving every second I spent running. Our coach was a man with a deep voice, muscular legs, and a habit of biking…
